These articles are all about the escorted tour of the Southern states of America I did in 2012 with my Uncle Dave. The articles are about the places we stayed, the things we did, and the places we visited. We flew into Los Angeles in California and travelled by coach eastwards across the southern states of America. We went through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. After we finished the escorted tour, we flew to New York and spent a few days there before returning to England.
I took my Uncle Dave with me to America in 2012. This would be his first visit to most of the places we would visit. The tour started with a few nights at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
I went to Mission San Juan Capistrano with my mum and dad as a teenager, and I loved the gardens and the bells on the walls.
We didn't spend much time at the San Diego Zoo, and for that, I was grateful. At the time of our visit, the zoo looked very old and, in my opinion, needed to be closed.
We didn't have very long at Carlsbad Caverns, but I did manage to get to the bottom of the main cave and back up.
I didn't know what to expect at the Yuma Territorial Prison, but I found the tour very interesting and informative.
I liked the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and was disappointed we didn't have more time to spend there.
I enjoyed walking around the San Xavier del Bac Mission and its grounds; it was very interesting.
While in Tombstone, Arizona, I visited Boothill Graveyard and the OK Corral.
The White Sands National Monument is in the northern Chihuahuan Desert. It is known for its dramatic landscape of rare white gypsum dunes.
